About Rhianna

Rhianna Sylver is an American author of gothic fantasy and the author of the Gilded Fable series. A high school English teacher by profession, she holds a BA in English Language and Literature and is currently pursuing a MA in Secondary English Education.

Literature has remained at the center of both her academic and creative life. Her interests span Gothic literature, mythology, poetry, and theatre, with a particular fascination for the ways stories shape identity, morality, and the choices people make. Years spent studying literature and teaching young readers have deeply influenced her approach to fiction, especially her interest in complicated heroines, inherited narratives, and the tension between the stories people are given and the lives they choose for themselves.

Sylver writes fantasy rooted as much in literary tradition as in imagination, drawing inspiration from old fables, folklore, dramatic storytelling, and the long history of writers who have used the fantastical to examine distinctly human questions. She is especially interested in grief, desire, agency, and the strange persistence of hope, as well as the relationship between storytelling and power.

Outside of writing, she continues to teach English and study education while maintaining a particular affection for poetry, theatre, and books with something unsettling beneath the surface. She lives in northwest Georgia with her husband and two children.
